Schools receive STEM acceleration grants

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) announced recipients of K-12 STEM grants, which will help certain districts accelerate, scale, or implement STEM curriculum.

Both the Jennings County School Corporation and the Edinburgh Community School Corporation received one of the 2019 STEM Acceleration grants. A portion of the funds given are to be used to improve elementary, and secondary student participation in STEM related projects according to IDOE. Also, the grants will allow schools the opportunity to expand STEM career exposure four students at all grade levels.

“A STEM education is vital to preparing our students for an ever-changing technological global economy,” said State Superintendent Dr. Jennifer McCormick. “I commend our awarded schools for their commitment to STEM and for their dedication to equipping students with the 21st century skills necessary to thrive and be successful.”
