Last year Central Middle School history teacher Alan Birkemeier was one of 18 teachers selected nationwide by the National History Day project to research a fallen WW II soldier buried in Europe and then to visit his gravesite.  For a year Birkemeier researched the life of Ogilville native Chester Lane; in July 2015 Birkemeier placed a piece of Indiana limestone and an American flag from Lane’s brother on Lane’s grave in France and gave a small eulogy.  During this program…
