COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus man was taken into custody on several charges Wednesday morning after striking two patrol vehicles during a short pursuit.
Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers spotted Randall S. Brown, 42, a suspect in a case involving a protection order violation, at around 9:10 a.m. They tried to stop Brown while driving near city hall on Second Street, however, he kept going north in a nearby alley and then turned onto Third Street, before trying to turn his vehicle around and ultimately hitting a pick-up truck.
When law enforcement attempted to box Brown’s truck in, he reportedly put his vehicle in reverse, striking and damaging two CPD patrol vehicles.
After a short stand-off, Brown was placed under arrest and remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail om a 48-hour hold with the preliminary charges of Invasion of Privacy (Violation of a Protective Order), Resisting Law Enforcement in a Vehicle, and Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon.
