The Columbus Area Arts Council, in partnership with kidscommons, will host Artz Daze on Friday, June 5 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. This hands-on arts creation program will be held outside in front of The Commons, located at 300 Washington Street, in the heart of the Columbus Arts District.
Artz Daze will provide hands-on learning opportunities for people of all ages by introducing a different medium each of the four sessions. Each day, kidscommons will provide programming designed for children, while the Arts Council will utilize the services of artist-in-residence Jeri Cannon to present featured art projects for adults. People are encouraged to stop by anytime throughout the day.
The first Artz Daze event will be incorporating clay. It will be red clay, which is more advanced sculpting clay. This will be air drying clay so each artist can take their new masterpiece home with them following the event. Jeri Cannon will be there to assist any artist so don’t worry if you don’t have a lot of experience. “I encourage everyone to break away from their desks and come experiment with the clay and adorn your claymation,” said Jeri Cannon, local artist that will be assisting each session.
In case of rain, the event will move inside The Commons.
The Columbus Area Arts Council is a public, not-for-profit corporation supported by private donations, the City of Columbus, the State of Indiana through the Indiana Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
