It’s becoming increasingly important to protect your identity online.  Good password management is a start but enabling and using two step authentication provides a higher level of protection.  Mr. Noobie will explain what two step authentication is, how and where you can enable it and how it provides a higher degree of online protection.  Please register at mybcpl.org under Events or call 812-379-1266.  Class will be cancelled if fewer than 5 register by September 8.

Craft Night: Wire Wrap Necklace

Join us for a fun and free craft night as library staff member Jessica Hendry shows you how to create a wire wrapped necklace. Beads and wire will be used to form a stylish bird nest piece. Bad Indiana Music

She’s a Corn-Fed Indiana Girl, Santa Claus Has Moved to Indiana- these songs and more are performed live as part of the Indiana State Museum’s program “Bad Indiana Music.”  The songs are gleaned from the museum’s collection of late 19th and early 20th century sheet music.  The presentation includes a sing-a-long and other audience participation opportunities (practice your washboard skills), so come prepared for an all-lungs out evening.  At the conclusion of the program, audience members choose a “bad” song…

Dementia Conversations

When someone is showing signs of dementia, it’s time to talk. This program is designed to help you talk with your entire family, including the person with signs of dementia, about challenging and often uncomfortable topics related to Alzheimer’s and dementia. Topics covered include going to the doctor, deciding when to stop driving and making legal and financial plans.  Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana.

Fifth Third Financial Empowerment Bus

Bankers from Fifth-Third will provide one-on-one counseling in areas such as obtaining credit reports; budgeting; home-ownership education; basic banking; fraud awareness and how to avoid foreclosure.  The Bus will be parked in front of the library.  On September 15 the bus will be at Eastside Community Center from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day

In honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day on September 18 we will show the film The Lost Valentine.  The film is a love story about a pregnant young wife who on Valentine’s Day 1944 says goodbye to her Navy pilot husband.  After their son is born she receives notice that her husband is MIA.  Lest We Forget, a short film about Columbus resident and former POW Gustav Pothoff, will also be shown.   A formal ceremony recognizing POWs/MIAs will be held…
