The Columbus Area Arts Council is pleased to welcome Billy Jonas back to Columbus. Jonas will perform at Old National Bank’s First Fridays for Families on Friday, February 7 at 6:00 PM in The Commons. All First Fridays for Families programs are free thanks to the generous financial support of Old National Bank. Additional funding for this program is provided by the Custer, Nugent, and Teegarden Foundations.
Jonas’ performances, described as “neo-tribal hootenannies,” are an explosion of energy that thrive on audience participation. Jonas, a multi-instrumentalist, plays conventional instruments (guitar, bass, marimba) and a variety of “industrial re-percussion” instruments made by recycling found objects (buckets and barrels, keys and cans, bells and body percussion). According to Jonas, his music is spirited and straightforward, making it easily accessible to anyone and everyone, regardless of age or cultural background. The big-tent festival quality of his shows helps to facilitate connection and community while fostering inspiration and most importantly, fun.
