COLUMBUS, Ind. – With the heat wave this week, local officials are alerting citizens of the serious threat it can pose and the importance of staying cool and hydrated.

A cooling station has been opened at Donner Center with hours on Wednesday and Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The facility is for those who do not have air conditioning so they can come cool down.

Food, showers, and areas for sleep are not available, per Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM). Anyone who attends is asked to respect the rules of the station and other individuals in the facility.
