COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Indiana Philharmonic (CIP) Board of Directors has selected Dr. Isaac Selya, of Cincinnati, as its new Music Director/Conductor beginning with the 2023-24 Philharmonic Concert Season.

“We are delighted to have Isaac as a part of the CIP family. He brings a wealth of experience in programming a variety of music. His education passion and outreach background will also be an asset to our growing learning opportunities provided within the community,” said Christopher Raskob, CIP’s Board President.

The search for a new CIP director began in September 2020, when long-time conductor, Dr. David Bowden, announced his intent to retire in 2022. A 15-member search committee, led by Peter King, was formed and 147 applications were received. Six finalists were recommended to the CIP Board of Directors. Each was interviewed and programmed a concert during this year’s philharmonic season.

Dr. Isaac Selya has extensive experience as a conductor, pianist, vocal coach, cellist, and entrepreneur. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Queen City Opera in Cincinnati where he has led many acclaimed performances. He has conducted many national and international orchestras including the Xiamen Philharmonic, the Dayton Philharmonic, the National Symphony of Guatemala, the Chelsea Symphony, and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. He also contributed to the soundtrack to the award-winning video game, Masquerada: Songs and Shadows.
