WASHINGTON – Joe Biden took his oath of office just before noon on Wednesday, as he was inaugurated the 46th President of the United States.

“America has been tested and we’ve come out stronger for it. We will repair our alliances and engage with the world once again. Not to meet yesterday’s challenges, but today’s and tomorrow’s challenges,” said President Biden.

Vice President Kamala Harris was also sworn in shortly before the new president took his oath.

This year’s inauguration ceremony took on a different look compared to past ceremonies at Capitol Hill. Security concerns and COVID-19 led to a smaller crowd that featured mostly family and fellow politicians, including former Vice President Mike Pence. Everyone wore masks. Former President Donald Trump did not attend the ceremony.
