This year's Night of a Thousand Jacks festivities kicks off early with the Dash-O-Lantern 5K Run / Walk at Mill Race Park. You're invited to join us for a fun, Halloween themed race. Local authors Ray and Debi Stanton will talk about their newly released book Waynesville, Indiana: Mother’s Day, Murder and Mayhem.  The book recounts the 2013 murders of Katheryn Burton, Aaron Cross, Tommy Smith and Shawn Burton.  Books will be available for purchase.  Daniel Burton, son of victim Katheryn Burton, will also be present.

The Columbus Philharmonic presents Celebrating the Reformation

The Reformation had a profound impact on many things in life, including music. We will celebrate the 500th Anniversary of this historic event with a massive festival chorus singing JS Bach and Vaughan Williams. A dramatic choral-orchestral setting by Dan Forrest of A Mighty Fortress and Mendelssohn’s great masterpiece, his Reformation Symphony, completes the experience. Tickets are available by calling the box office at 812-376-2638 ext. 1, visiting the ticket office at 315 Franklin St., or online at www.thecip.org/tickets.

FREE!  Ages up to 12.  2:00pm:  Contest for ages up to 5.  Approximately 3:00pm:  Contest for ages 6-12.  1st-3rd place prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories in both age groups.  Numbers for judging will be available at 1:30pm.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.  All participants will receive a ribbon & a treat bag. Parade your pooch on the Conversation Plinth.  Five costume categories have been established: Scariest, Funniest, Most Creative, Super Hero and Best Owner/Dog Costume Combo. One prize awarded for each category. No fee to participate, but donations to the Bartholomew County Humane Society are welcome.  Judges are QMIX’S very own Tim Green, Jane Irwin with the Bartholomew County Humane Society and Lottie the Great Dane!  All dogs must remain leashed and with an adult at all times.
