COLUMBUS, Ind. – United Way of Bartholomew County and Fair Oaks Mall are hosting the 11th annual CANstruction Competition at Fair Oaks Mall in Columbus, starting on Saturday, February 22, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

CANstruction ream representatives will build structures out of canned goods, which will be given to Love Chapel, the Community Center of Hope, and the Salvation Army.

Structures will be on display through Sunday, March 1, and the community can bring canned goods and vote for the People’s Choice award. Other award winners will be selected by a panel of community judges for Best Meal, Best Use of Labels, Best Original Design, Most Cans, and Structural Ingenuity.

The United Way of Bartholomew County says that about 9,000 residents within the county live with food insecurity every day, and over the years CANstruction has been able to collect over 300,000 cans while raising local hunger awareness in the community.
