COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Jail’s drug treatment program recently graduated 22 individuals and five mentors from its BART Treatment Program Cohort.
BART is an acronym for Begin, Accept, Reveal, and Transform. Those core components are used throughout treatment by therapists who use evidence-based practice.
“By turning a portion of the Bartholomew County Jail into a drug treatment facility, we created the ability to treat inmates,” said Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Major Chris Lane. “I am proud of these men and women.”
Using the Matrix Model for Criminal Justice Systems, participants are provided more than 400 hours of group and individual treatment. The minimum treatment period is 12 weeks.
To date, 49 individuals and six Peer Recovery Mentors have graduated from the BART Program.
