COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) is scheduled for a virtual assessment as part of a program to achieve accreditation by verifying that they meet professional standards.

Administered by the Commission for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc., the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with the state of the art standards in four basic areas; policy/procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As part of the assessment, department employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session that will be held on Tuesday, July 13, at 5 p.m., in the Cal Brand Room, at Columbus City Hall, 123 Washington St.

Residents may also comment by calling 812-376-2625 on Tuesday, July 13, between noon and 2 p.m.
