COLUMBUS, Ind. – A trial date has been set in a case where Bartholomew County Prosecutor Bill Nash supposedly threatened a neighbor. According to court documents, a special judge has set February 7, 2023, as the trial date in Bartholomew Superior Court 1. Nash’s initial hearing set for August 10 was waived.
A Columbus police report filed on May 8 by his neighbors, Scott Stuck and Monica Salazar-Stuck, alleges that Nash’s anger about the neighbor’s “dangerous dogs” escalated into threats and intimidation. The Stucks said that Nash had previously shot a pellet gun toward their house. Nash was officially charged on July 15 and a $600 bond was set and paid on August 2.
The felony charges against Nash are for intimidation and obstruction of justice, while the misdemeanor charges include four counts of harassment, plus one count each of disorderly conduct, interference in the reporting of a crime, and intimidation.
During the May 8 confrontation, Nash purportedly screamed at the neighbor, “I can kill you and Indiana state law says I can kill you.” Allegedly, he continued, “The last time I checked I am still the chief law enforcement officer so go ahead and call the cops. Good luck with that.”
