NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) stopped a vehicle in the area of North State Road 7, on Thursday at around 12:20 a.m., after witnessing traffic infractions.

The deputy made contact with Durand Meyer, 63, of North Vernon, and became suspicious of illegal activity. The assistance of another officer and K9 Dino was requested.

K9 Dino alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle and deputies conducted a probable cause search, allegedly locating methamphetamine inside of the vehicle. The suspect was placed under arrest.

The investigation then led to Meyer’s apartment where deputies found Kathy Corona, who had an active Bartholomew County felony arrest warrant.

During a search of the residence, JCSO supposedly discovered about 10 grams of methamphetamine, scales, baggies, paraphernalia, and other items consistent with the distribution of meth.

Meyer and Corona are currently being held in the Jennings County Jail on the preliminary charges of Dealing Methamphetamine (Level 3 Felony), Possession of Meth (Level 5 Felony), Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Level 6 Felony), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor).
