COLUMBUS, Ind. – The City of Columbus will observe the 23rd anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the nation with a remembrance ceremony held this Wednesday, on the Columbus City Hall Plaza at 8:40 a.m. The Patriot Day observance is open to the public.

The ceremony will include a moment of silence followed by a dispatch broadcast to honor the first responders and citizens who lost their lives following the attacks at the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Nearly 3000 people lost their lives during the attacks.

The Columbus Police and Fire Color Guard will be a part of the 9/11 event. A traditional Columbus Fire Department Fire Service bell ceremony will honor the fallen.

The observance is scheduled to last 30 minutes. The rain location is the Cal Brand Meeting Room.
