COLUMBUS, Ind. – The City of Columbus Department of Public Works begins its live Christmas Tree collection service the day after Christmas. From December 26 through January 26, The Columbus Sanitation Department will pick up your live residential Christmas trees curbside.

You must remove all decorations from your live tree. Any items left on trees could damage the city’s equipment.

To participate, residents should have their trees curbside on their trash day for collection. Call-ins will not be accepted and collections will not be made on private streets or in alleys.

No artificial trees will be collected via chipper. Call the Department of Public Works to schedule a bulky item pickup for artificial trees.

For Christmas Trees to be collected, they must be free of:

  • Hooks
  • Ornaments
  • Lights
  • Nails
  • Stands
