FRENCH LICK, Ind. – As of 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, the suspect in the shooting of Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Zach Andry early Friday morning, January 3, remains at large and is to be considered armed and dangerous.
Austin Dakota Schepers, 33, with a last known address of Jasper, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting of the deputy outside of West Baden.
Indiana State Police (ISP) Troopers, detectives from the Jasper, Sellersburg, and Bloomington districts, and law enforcement officers from southern Indiana have attempted to locate Schepers throughout Friday. A Blue Alert was issued.
Schepers is a white male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He has neck tattoos and the tattoo of a cross under his left eye.
On Friday afternoon, ISP detectives received information that Schepers was at a residence in New Albany. A search warrant was applied for, granted, and executed but Schepers was not found inside.
