FRANKLIN, Ind. – After an 11-week investigation, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) last week filed criminal charges on the Indianapolis woman involved in the alleged incident at the Kiddie Academy of Greenwood, 606 S. Morgantown Rd., near West Smith Valley Rd., on November 4, 2024.

Johnson County Prosecutor Lance Hamner charged Joyce Nicole Perkins, 31, with battery on a child (level 6 felony).

JCSO deputies and detectives reviewed the video provided by the childcare center in November. It reportedly showed the suspect slap the little boy’s face after he had spit on her face.

According to the affidavit, Perkins supposedly struck the child “hard enough to spin him around and into a cabinet behind him.” She claimed “the child was acting up and spit on her face.”
