GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Greenwood Fire Department (GFD) responded to a reported fire at 25 Village Crossing Dr. N., in the Village Crossing apartment complex, on Tuesday, just after 7 a.m.
Initial reports indicated flames were visible in one of the entryways of the building, with additional calls advising the fire had spread through the roof.
The Greenwood Police Department was the first to arrive on the scene and officers reported smoke and flames emerging from the structure. Greenwood Fire’s Engine 93, the initial fire unit to arrive, began suppressing the fire.
Firefighters searched and cleared all eight apartments in the affected building in under five minutes. Water was quickly applied to the blaze which was contained to the porch area of the building, preventing further damage to the apartments. The White River Township Fire Department assisted in combating the fire.
All residents were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. Only one family was displaced.
GFD investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
