SOUTH-CENTRAL, Ind. – Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Shelby, Brown, and Decatur Counties are under a Wind Advisory from 5 p.m. on Friday until 4 p.m. on Saturday says the National Weather Service (NWS). The region is in the low-risk (Yellow) area for severe weather.
In addition to high winds, heavy rain is expected for the area to start the weekend. The forecast is for south winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph.
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Higher gusts are possible with showers and thunderstorms overnight Friday into early Saturday. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Heavy rain could total 1 to 2 inches. Tornadoes are possible and hail, mostly small to marginally severe-sized hail, can not be ruled out. NWS also says localized flooding is also possible.
