INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is preparing for the major storm that is forecast to impact much of Indiana this week.

The National Weather Service has already issued winter storm warnings for a large portion of the state, including Bartholomew County. Significant snowfall and the potential for ice are possible during this winter storm making travel dangerous for many drivers.

INDOT says it will be at a “full call” with nearly 1,000 trucks treating and plowing highways across the state beginning Wednesday. They will remain out in full force during and after the winter storm to continue cleanup.

Road conditions will be challenging and INDOT’s goal is to keep highways passable. Motorists who must travel should expect snow and ice-covered roads and potential whiteout conditions.
