Johnson County native gets state police promotion

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana State Police (ISP) Superintendent Douglas G. Carter recently announced the promotion of Master Trooper Edward Olibo to the rank of First Sergeant. First Sgt. Olibo will serve as the Assistant Commander of the Indiana State Police Criminal Justice Information Services Section.

Olibo, who is originally from Franklin, is a 1987 graduate of Franklin Community High School and earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Vincennes University in 1989. Beginning in October 1990, Olibo started his law enforcement career with the Columbus Police Department. During his time as a patrol officer, he also served on the SWAT team and as a field training officer until his selection to the ISP Recruit Academy in 1999.

On December 12, 1999, Olibo graduated from the 58th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed as a trooper assigned to the ISP Post in Lafayette before being transferred to the Seymour post where he patrolled Bartholomew and Jackson counties.
