WHITELAND, Ind. – The Johnson County Public Library’s (JCPL) Clark Pleasent branch in Whiteland suffered heavy damage due to the storms this weekend and is closed until further notice.

An HVAC unit was torn off the roof, about 10 windows were broken, and various other exterior damage to the library was reported, according to JCPL. Some areas inside the building sustained water damage, but there was little or no water damage to the books and other materials. The library will reopen Monday or Tuesday.

The Clark-Pleasant School Corporation announced on Sunday that it would not have classes on Monday. Some of the school buildings still have power issues, utility poles are down, and some roads are blocked due to storm cleanup which creates significant traffic problems, especially for school buses. The situation will be reassessed on Monday and an update will be given then.

JCPL’s Franklin Branch was open Saturday without electricity, which limited services. The power was restored to the Trafalgar Branch in the early afternoon on Saturday.
