HOPE, Ind. — The Rural Letter Carrier Museum in Hope is having an open house on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
On October 15, 1896, Hope became one of the first in the country to use mail routes to deliver to rural homes and the open house is in commemoration.
The letter-carrier museum, located within the Yellow Trail Museum/Hope Visitor’s Center, opened in October 2022 with phase one.
Museum staff is asking rural mail carriers to tell them their stories for inclusion in phase two, which along with photos will be put on display. Phase two is scheduled to open in April 2024.
