TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. – The German Township Volunteer Fire Department (GTVFD) is beginning 2024 with a brand new fire chief. After six and one-half years, the most recent GTVFD fire chief decided to step back to the rank of firefighter at the end of last year.
The GTVFD fire board, which is made up of citizens who live within German Township, along with the German Township Trustees Office, interviewed several applicants and selected Deputy Chief Kelli Lynch to be elevated to the rank of GTVFD Fire Chief.
Chief Lynch has served the last 11 years as Deputy Chief of Operations, Training, and Personnel. She is a career firefighter/paramedic with the Indianapolis Fire Department. Lynch has served with the German Township Volunteer Fire Department since 2004.
It is believed that Chief Lynch is the first female fire chief in Bartholomew County.
