COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Municipal Airport unveiled the new Air Traffic Control Tower design at a Tuesday morning reception. Airport officials said, “This moment has been decades in the making and only happens through hard work and determination.”
Marlon Blackwell Architects, in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration and Woolpert (an aviation-focused engineering firm), designed the tower.
A grant from the Cummins Architecture Foundation is helping to support the project.
Officials say construction on the over 100-foot air traffic control tower will begin in 2025 with completion scheduled for sometime in spring 2027. The estimated cost is $11.5 million.
