COLUMBUS, Ind. – The newest officer of the Columbus Police Department (CPD) has joined the ranks. Mayor Mary Ferdon swore in Haley Cox (CPD 304) at Columbus City Hall on Monday morning.

Cox comes to CPD from Shelbyville. After graduating high school, she obtained an associate’s degree in business administration. She then worked as a field officer for Shelby County Community Corrections for two years before becoming an officer for the Indiana Excise Police.

Cox has already attended the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Her next step is a couple of weeks of training with CPD instructors before starting the field training program to work toward being a solo patrol officer.
