INDIANAPOLIS – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis says a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect on Thursday, from 4 to 10 p.m. for a good portion of the state.

The Winter Weather Advisory is active for portions of central, east-central, north-central, south-central, southeast, and west-central Indiana, including Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, Jennings, Shelby, Decatur, and Brown Counties.

Light snow is expected with total accumulations up to one or two inches. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Plan on localized slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute.

NWS says accumulations will primarily be on grassy and elevated surfaces, but localized slick spots cannot be ruled out, primarily on bridges and overpasses, or during the heaviest snow showers.
